Blanca Azucena Owen, Esq.
Blanca holds a law degree from the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (UMNG), in Bogota, Colombia, as well as a Master of Laws degree from SUNY at Buffalo Law School. Blanca is admitted to practice law both in Colombia and in the State of New York.
During her two years of legal clinic practice in UMNG, Blanca defended low income individuals in criminal courts who had been charged with misdemeanors. She also served as a legal advocate where she was able to assist parents acting pro se in family courts, helping them to prepare their cases for custody, parenting time, and/or child support. In addition she acted as a mediator in matrimonial and other civil law disputes, including domestic labor disputes, personal injury, and real estate transactions.
In 2003, Blanca moved to Rochester, New York, where she began studying English as a second language at Monroe Community College. In 2006, Blanca began volunteer work at the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office and continued working in the legal field until 2012 when she began attending SUNY Buffalo Law School. Blanca graduated with a Master of Laws degree in 2013 and returned to volunteer work at both the Family Law Section of the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office and the Family Law Unit of the Legal Aid Society of Rochester.
In March of 2016, Blanca joined the Law Offices of Jose Perez, P.C., where she currently handles Workers’ Compensation cases, Social Security disability and supplemental income hearings. She also represents individuals in Immigration court.
